Key benefits of Wopa Cattle Crushes

    W bar

The heel W-Bar attachment can only be used with the spring-loaded back bar as it attaches to it. It secures the leg more firmly without restricting access to the hoof for the trimmer.

    Spring-Loaded Back Bar

    BACK bar

The Spring-loaded back bar swings down behind the cow and is secured into a locking catch on the side of the crush, thus replacing the back chain. As the back leg is raised, the bar is able to move upwards, maintaining constant pressure on the leg. This keeps the cow more comfortable and, therefore, more relaxed. It also eliminates over-tightening of the back leg.

    Safety winches

Every Wopa Standard and Mobile Cattle Crush features as standard, two safety winches – one for the belly strap and one for the back leg. They engage the brake instantly when the handle is released without any extra handling from the operator, ensuring that under no circumstances can the handle spin independently of the operator. This is a particularly great feature when cows put up some resistance. It means that you have full control over the cow, so you can ensure she is weight bearing on all feet before fully releasing. Both winches are equipped with a 2:1 reduction, providing more control and requiring less effort.

made of heavy gauge steel and completely hot-dip galvanised

All Wopa crushes are fully hot-dip galvanised and made of heavy gauge steel to ensure a long lifespan, even when being used for large animals. The frame is specifically constructed to absorb animal movement. The use of individually bolted panels increases the flexibility of the framework, which is essential in avoiding the stress cracks which fully welded crushes suffer from.

    Easy safe access

Dealing with animals is one of the main causes of injury in the rural sector. To increase safety, better access to the animal has been created by eliminating all unnecessary bars and pipe-work. Standing beside the cow, leaning into her creates the safest, and most comfortable, work environment. It saves your back and the cow is comfortable. The cow’s back leg is securely restrained with the leg strap, pulling it tight into the back chain.

    Walk through headbail

The headbail has been constructed to eliminate injury to the cow and to prevent choking. The headbail is fully operated from the rear of the crush giving the operator full control as the cow enters and exits the crush making jobs like tagging cows and heifers a breeze.

    Front foot support

The front foot support blocks are designed to provide maximum access to the front feet. The front feet are placed on the support blocks and securely fastened with a soft rope. These blocks can be easily removed and upgraded to the safety winch version if desired,(see details in this brochure).

    stabilising bar

The stabilising bar ensures that the crush cannot tip sideways if you choose not to secure your crush to the ground. This is particularly useful when an unsettled cow is being treated.

    back chain catch

All Wopa Cattle Crushes include specially designed back chain catch. This gives you the ability to exit a cow through the back, instead of through the head bail by being able to release the chain, even with pressure on it from the cow.
